Welcome to the United Firefighters' Union web site.

The United Firefighters' Union in Queensland represents some 2300 Urban firefighters, both career and part-time. The Union is made up of members throughout the state of Queensland, from Mt Isa in the north-west, to Cairns in the far north, west to Kingaroy and south to the Queensland-New South Wales border.

The UFU operates on a tiered basis, with varying levels of representation. Members are initially represented by local Branch officials whose role is to manage Union business on a local level, with each of the seven Regions in the state having Firefighter and Officer Delegates representing them on the Union's State Committee of Management (SCM). Additionally, the SCM has two Auxiliary Firefighter Delegates, a Senior Officer Delegate and a Communication Centres Delegate to ensure effective representation of all members.

The Union's SCM meets quarterly and comprises the regional Delegates as well as the State Executive. The State Executive comprises the State Secretary, State President, Assistant Secretary, Senior and Junior Vice Presidents, and three Executive Members. The State Executive meets monthly and is charged with the conduct of the Union between the quarterly meetings of the SCM.
