Committee of Management Elections
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has announced the dates for the conduct of the election of the Branch Committee of Management (BCOM) of the Queensland Branch of the United Firefighters Union of Australia. These positions are the Queensland Branch Secretary, Branch President, Branch Assistant Secretary, Branch Senior Vice President, Branch Junior Vice President, three Branch Executive Members, Communications Centre Delegate, Senior Officer Delegate, Auxiliary Firefighter Delegates, as well as the Officer and Firefighter Delegates for each of the Regions. The successful nominees to these positions will also fill the comparable State positions on State Committee of Management (SCM) of the state-registered Union, the United Firefighters Union of Australia, Union of Employees, Queensland.
Nominations for positions will open on 14 September 2009, and will close at 5pm on 1 October 2009.
If you have changed your address, you need to notify the Union office IMMEDIATELY. The QFRS does not notify us of any changes of address.

Section 190 of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 states - "An organisation or branch commits an offence if it uses, or allows to be used, its property or resources to help a candidate against another candidate in an election under this Part for an office or other position."
Accordingly, the Members Forum on the Union's web site will be removed from use immediately, as postings made on the forum could, at some time, be construed as "helping [a] candidate" and could potentially see the Union facing fines.
